All the bright places

Words from a lilly. I know of someone who says that this world isn't balanced. And I agree. Some struggle to survive while some don't. Some labour all day long but never have enough and some make money even while asleep.  'Why is life like this?' you ask. Well, all stars shine but the brightness of each one differs, even though they are all 'stars'. All fingers are not equal. Everyone just can't be the same, but that doesn't mean you can't grow. A gate man today can become the CEO of a renown business tomorrow. The ones mocked today can become the one celebrated in the future. Life can be messy, so so messy but life can also be beautiful. Can someone broken be mended? Can a person's broken mind be healed? Can we find our peace despite our tears, can we love despite having no one to love us back? Can we fully recover from pain and loss? We've all lost something or someone, this is life but each per...

ONE EYE

ONE EYE I look up and I see your one eye. You've always been an enigma to me, only coming out in moments like this. I admire you, you enchant me with your veiny turquoise eye. Your antennas brings a smile to my face. Never have I seen such beauty in such monstrosity. The longer I stare, the deeper you pull me in. I don't know if I should find you comforting or I should run from you, I can't seem to decide. I see the words I'd never get to say in your one eye. I see the regret. I see the pain. The water ripples around me. I exhale, closing my eyes. You want me to stay but I don't.  I want to go with you, because only you have cared to join me in my darkest moments. You could even say I love you. One eye. But you don't love me, it would seem. You don't want me. I see that now. I look at the razor just sitting there at the edge of the tub. What if I didn't give you a choic...

LOVE

What is love? Think about it. It's a four letter word, but do people really understand it? I heard it in your words that you loved me, I saw it in your actions. There was only you, there won't be another. You stole my heart away with your kindness, but I was willing. I gave you my heart because you deserved it. Your light shines on me, illuminating my darkness. You confound me, even now. You pulled me from the pit I'd so willingly fallen into. I'd never seen a more beautiful sight, the day you reached out for me. I thought I was good but turns out I wasn't. I saw the difference. It was clear to me now, you showed me. I've seen the light, so pure, so true. So why would I ever go back to the darkness? It ate me alive, that's what it did, but you bandaged me right up. Now I'm going to pull others out like you once did. Hopefully they won't love the chains like I'd so blindly did. ° ° ...

Billy

~Your dreams begin to leak into reality. You're afraid to sleep because you're not in control and he wants out~ Dissociative Identity Disorder, that was what they called it. A disorder characterized with the presence of two or more distinct personality traits. One man, different identities. Most people thought he was crazy, he didn't deny it because as a matter of fact he was. They said he was unstable and he didn't blame them because, truthfully, he was. They told him that he was a danger to himself and others, hence why he was locked him up in a mental institution. He didn't blame them. Truthfully, that was where he belonged. It all started when he was twelve. He'd zoned out in class one day after a bully had messed with him. It'd been going on for a long while now and suddenly Ralph had snapped. All he had seen was black and red.  He came to five minutes later with two busted fists.  Though he hadn't understood the events leading up to him regaining c...

Black Beauty

I see colour and beauty. The colour of your skin is amber, so delicate, so soft, and yet you're so strong. A variety of shades you have. You're an enigma to me brown woman. I hear your music— it's the sound of your soul. Black woman, you're gold. You're hair, a curly perfection, unique only to you. I hear the music in your struggles.  Your pain in your crescendo. Your song calls to me oh chestnut beauty. You really are unique, you're an ode to me. I haven't found anyone quite like you. 'Cause frankly, there isn't anyone else like you. You are the sound I someday want the rest of the world to hear. A music that entices even the faintest ear. Never stop singing,  'cause in your music, I have found your uniqueness. And in your notes, your strength. Black woman. You. Are. Beautiful ° ° ° ° ° ° ° I hope you enjoyed this one🤗❤ Shout out to every black woman out there! So, what do you think?☺

IT CAME

IT CAME. "The stars look cool." He yelled as he excitedly pulled her to the back porch, surprisingly strong for someone so small. She gasped when she saw the sky, fear taking hold. "Those aren't stars Sam." "Then what are they?" He turned to face her. She sure looked beautiful. "They're meteors!" She yelled. What? "Run!" ***** That was a month ago. The world was not the same after that night. The Earth never recovered and for whatever reason, the stars never did too—almost as if they knew that nothing would ever be worth shining on again, that nothing would ever be beautiful again. But she'd been... He felt the familiar prickle of tears. He promised himself that he would never cry, never again. He sat up on his makeshift bed, his riffle laid undisturbed underneath his pillow, and with it, her picture. Not many people had escaped, heck, he barely had. She hadn't- Like the star, suddenly she was gone. Her regalia never to ...
