King X

Prompt: Write a short story on how the letter X became a protagonist in the world of mathematics. X, the unknown king. . . . . This was an alternate reality, something that exists in the fabric of time far away, another world where equations were not only what we used to solve problems, but they were beings, fully sentient material entities that were able, perceive, assimilate, think, and solve for themselves. The name of this reality is the Rubix Realm. There was a myth. He was a legend. He was called X. Most people didn't know if he was real. But then, those who were aware, those who were around during that time, they spoke of a variable whose disappearance changed the reality as they knew it. The world then was a world where there wasn’t any equation that was not solved. Ever since X disappeared, in the tribe of Calculus, in the tribe of Algebra, in the tribe of Geometry, in the tribe of Differential Realms, things never remained the same. 2000 years later, their rea...

Ayo 🌱❤️

You are a friend I’ve known since forever. It all started back in secondary school, when everyone used to call you Madara, as in Uchiha Madara. I always found that name quite peculiar. I watched you from afar, gentle, soft-spoken, and incredibly intelligent. Even then, you were a force to be reckoned with. With your silent perseverance, you and the rest of our group of geniuses would compete among yourselves over who could master the chemistry, physics, and biology textbooks. I have always admired your strength. I have always admired your resilience. I’m really glad you were able to conquer every single obstacle that came your way, to live your life the way you wanted, and to come out so strong and admirable. We graduated in 2016, and it has been exactly ten years since then. I’m glad that after a decade, you now have something so great to offer the world. I’ve had conversations with you many times at different points in your life and mine, and all I’ve ever seen is someone special, so...

The thin line.

This content was created on the second of January 2026. I've decided to journal about my life now, my lived experiences, claim back my identity. Because for years now all I've been doing is floating. 2025 was a win, but it was all done on auto pilot. I was in my mind most of the time, stuck between the past, present and future, not sure which one to live in. People don't talk about what comes next after you've used up your strength to the point where all you have left are fumes. Everything keeping you steady suddenly runs out and then you're left in limbo, surviving yes but never truly living. You still get things done, still get called excellent but only you know what the voices say about you not yet living up to your potential.  To understand where it all went wrong, first you need to go back to the beginning or rather the end, the time in your life when the camel's back broke. Then retrace your steps, see how it influenced your choices, your habit...

Her mind's scars.

©2022 by Idowu Taiwo Deborah. *Her Mind's Scars* Brought to you by the Christian Writers and Readers Club. ****** This woman smiled and she looked beautiful while doing it. She ate and she looked content while doing it. She cared for others and she looked genuine while doing it. She was so dissociated in thought that for seven years her mind that was part in three had no idea that the life was slowly leaving her eyes. This woman was stuck in time. Stuck in 2015 where her mother died. It was like her brain automatically went to survival mode. The brain was so intelligent that it allowed her retain her usual 'light' but unknowns to her, she was already disconnected. How can one think they were alive while already dying? How can one still be living after continuously drowning?  The brain kept her body alive but everything that used to make her happy slowly ceased. And because her mother who died amidst wolves called 'in-laws' was the only cover she had, slowly she fou...

Happy Birthday 🎉

A good friend of mine asked me to write something special for her. It's also her birthday today.🤗❤ This is for you dear.❤ . . . Why do we need birthdays?  Why do we need a day to remember that we are still alive? I think the question answers itself, no? We celebrate birthdays to appreciate the beauty of life. To remind someone that we're still here, still kicking, still hopeful, still thankful. It reminds us of age, that we are no longer kids, it reminds of responsibilities— nature's way of asking for our quota to the human race.  But if you didn't even give one dear, you existing is enough. On this special day, when you think about how far you've come, may you smile and rejoice, may you be thankful for the highs and lows and look forward to many more years ahead. Birthdays are great, because only the living celebrate life. Happy Birthday Ajibola. Continue to live graciously and prosper.🤗❤ . . . . Taiwolilly🌼

Your Ghost

I see you, in this moment. You're hurting, but even while in the rain, your pain isn't getting washed away. You have your back to me but I want you to look at me. I hold your hand, you stiffen. I turn you around. You're afraid because I'm making you feel. And you don't want to. I lock eyes with you and smile. I raise my hand to your cheek and I can't tell if the wetness is still the rain or now your tears. I dance in the rain and you watch me. I see a faint smile dusting the corner of your lips. I don't want your ghost, I just want you.

Far, far away (A song).

Dedicated to Phaserprime(Monijesu) ❤️ We live far away.  We're from far away. Now I know this land ain't mine.  This place ain't mine.  Were from far away. Now we're living as strangers, in a foreign land.  When will we go home? Everybody's telling me that I've overstayed my welcome, welcome. Even I know this ain't my home. I know that I'm from, far away.  Yeah. I'm from far away.

What your words mean to me

Dedicated to Soffiyah, Abdullahi's partner❤️ Since the time we met, I haven't for once regretted it, knowing you. You light up my world like the stars in the night. You are beautiful, loving, caring. I can't think of a time when I don't miss you. Can't think of a time before you.  You are the love of my life, the apple of my eyes, the one who makes me smile. Though you're busy sometimes...  But I understand. I'm happy you still make time for me. You have no idea how a few words from you feel. It warms my heart and gives me joy. Though I wish you'd reply me as eagerly as I would you...  Your words is to my heart like when I drink water to quench my thirst. It soothes me.  I love you ❤️.

A friend in an unlikely place.

Dedicated to Ajibola🌼  Quiet, modest, reserved– these are the words I would use to describe you.  We've known each other for five years, I remembered the first time I got to know you. It was at camp, at an hostel. It was a popular story building having a wide spaced compound. There were about four identical structures in that building. I had gone over there to see a mutual friend, and fellow departmental mate.  It was morning, my sister and I were both sitting outside, by a pole of some sort admiring the sky.  We were so surprised to see you but it was a pleasant surprise. We didn't know we would get to meet anyone else we knew here.  I think you even greeted us first.  You were different from what I had originally thought. This was around 200l. As opposed to being someone who liked to keep to themselves, you were easy to talk to. For the first time, I asked for your name and you told me, AJIBOLA.  I later got to know that other people know you by a d...

Prompt 4: Gehenna

Prompt: Pick a name, a place, thing and an emotion and write a short horror story about it. Name: Silas. Place: Gehenna. Thing: A nail. Emotion: Grief. Dedicated to Peculiar Praise❤ ****** There was groaning, wailing and gnashing of teeth. At this point, he was too tired to scream. There was no sense of time here. He didn't know if he's spent a week here or a thousand years. There was no reprieve, no rest and worst of all, there was no water. His tongue had shrivelled up. His mouth felt like sandpaper. He was amid the red and yellow flames, enduring torture for the rest of eternity. The worst part about Gehenna is that you never forget your crimes, but you always remember them. That regret coupled with the toture was enough to make any man mad. Silas used to be a wealthy man, from a well-to-do family. As though that wasn't enough, in his greed he sought for powers beyond him, powers money couldn't buy and ended up signing several binding contracts. One...

Prompt 3: Murderer

Prompt: Pick a name, a place, thing and an emotion and write a short horror story about it. Name: Megan. Place: Tennessee. Thing: Axe. Emotion: Grief Dedicated to Gbolahan (G-easy/Gbolisky)♥ ***** It was the smell that woke her this time. That tangy, fishy smell. It was in the air and whether she liked it or not it was there to stay. It clung to everything- her clothes, it clung to the boxes and gas barrels that seemed to have been abandoned for who knows how long. The mouldy rocky floor was filled with the clothes and belongings of the deceased. Megan was locked up in some kind of underground warehouse. It was dark and humid. She could barely even see her hands in front of her. It had rained the night before. Drops of rain were slowly seeping in through the cracks of the floor above her. She was cold, hungry. Counting the days here, made no difference. All the days have long since merged into one. The smell was getting worse. Usually, the bodies didn't spend...

Prompt 2: Dakatar

Prompt: Pick a name, a place, thing and an emotion and write a short horror story about it. Name: Dakatar Place: Space. Thing: Shard of glass. Emotion: Despair. Dedicated to Victor Mairo. ****** It was getting hard to breathe. She could feel her body shutting down. She grimaced at the metallic taste in her mouth. "Dakatar! Dakatar!! "Don't you dare give up on me. Wake up!" You're almost there. At the sound of this voice, her eyes fluttered back open. What was that? She slowly turned to her left and then to her right. It sounded closer. Did she hear that right? Suddenly it was quiet, the voices of her teammates slowly faded out. "What was that voice?" She was floating away, with a wire attached to her space suit leading back to the Space Station approximately twenty meters away. The wire was a safety measure put in place to keep her fastened to the ship in the event of an accident. But it serves no purpose if the blast ends...

Prompt 1: Mykonos

Prompt: Pick a name, a place, thing and an emotion and write a short horror story about it. Name: Lauren Place: Mykonos A thing: Plier Emotion: Confused/Happy (pick any) Dedicated to Monijesu (Phaserprime) ****** She was gone and it's been two days. It's been two days of gut-wrenching anxiety and dread. The usual lively island was gloomy, giving it a rather tense atmosphere. Everybody knew everybody here, that was why when news of the cheery thirty-year-old fashion designer went missing, the whole island panicked. Mykonos was a small Greek island known for its Cycladic structures that often reminded people of the bronze ages. Mykonos was a summer house for the rich, the top percent of the population, a place to relax for vacations or just to get away from all the tension of the busy life that only the rich could relate to. Usually, it wasn't hard to move around here, usually you took a casual walk around town without having to worry about getting stabbed or shot...

I love you till eternity.

He stared at her thinking about how much has changed since he met her and how much joy she had brought into his life within the short time they had spent together. He contemplated. How could he describe her? She was beautiful but her outward beauty was just half of it. She had such a beautiful, rich and pure soul, almost like a child's but she was no child. She was so mature beyond her years, almost like a sage.  She radiated so much inner light that he would constantly bask in it whenever she was near. She had such grace such majesty, she was otherworldly. But she was his, maybe not officially but that would change soon. Often he wondered, 'Of all the men that she could have loved, why did she choose someone like him, despite the ugliness of who he once was?'. She showed him love, care, affection, and adoration. Things he had struggled with at a young age. He had fallen for her, completely, irrevocably. With his soul, with his heart, his mind, his body, forever. He was he...

Yay♥🥰

1,2,3,4,5....24. How time flies. Tic-Tok goes the clock. Never stopping, never waiting. Two decades and four years, that is how long I've been alive. I've lived 12 whole years...twice. Who was I at the age of twelve? Did I even know who Taiwo was then? I was in JS 3, a very awkward and reserved girl. I had a lot of joy and nothing much bothered me. I didn't have responsibilities to worry about. I only had to pass my exams and my mother would be impressed. I enjoyed the company of family.  How simple life was then, at twelve. Now I've lived twice that now and I've discovered now that there was more beyond life than secondary school. You know I used to be afraid of growing up.  One, because I didn't think I could survive as an adult because of my reserved nature. I felt like I was too timid to be shouldered with important responsibilities. But here I am now. Would you be proud, 12 yr old me? I think you would. I think Mummy would, I think Daddy would. And I hope...

Wow, Old things have passed away.

Not many people know me, most times, people never truly do. At this moment in time, a lot of things exist happening simultaneously around the world. Some good some bad. These things eventually come to you in the form of people and events, you 'taste' the world. You witness its beauty and ugliness. Each new experience forms your person. You learn you unlearn, you relearn. I'm going to be 24 years in two days. This feels like such a huge number. Do I feel my age? Nope.  Since my mum passed 8 years ago, I had felt stuck in time. Never really growing up mentally because there were no longer parental markers to highlight my growth. You were on your own.  I noticed I still craved things, juvenile things as I aged, and I wanted them with the fervency I would have had, when I was younger. I talked to my brother about this and he was able to help me get out of that state. Now I'm not afraid to grow up. It's a blessing to be able to grow up. God made you, He knew what would...

The Earth Will Be Beautiful

So, it's Monday. I never did have anything against Mondays because 'man gats to work'. As I'm still a student and also an entrepreneur, those words have never been truer. I wanted to write yesterday but ended up writing a very short response to a prompt instead. Don't worry, I'll upload it later😉. The genre is 'horror' though, thought to tell you in advance. I dreamt some months back, I have the gift of dreams, one of the many gifts given to me by the Holy Spirit. The dream was very deep. 'Evil' as they like to do, prevented the dreamer's every step to vanquish them, but at the end of the day, the Lord became my escape and I heard a song; "The Earth Will be Beautiful." It went from me fearing the oppressive presence in the dream to being happy, prophesying what will come to be. This word is to encourage you that no matter how much you see evil spreading understand that one day they will be no more and that day is muc...

It's been a while

Hey, it's been more than a year since I posted. A lot has happened since then. A LOT. As you know, I'm a Christian and recently I've had my biggest challenge as a Christian and author. I had never been as tired both mentally and spiritually as I was late last year and early this year but unsurprisingly even through the raging storm, God was doing His things as He normally does. Despite the ordeals, I'm better than I was. I have so much to be grateful for. A lot. I am thankful for all He has given me; I'm in 400l now, almost a graduate, and my brothers have both gotten a higher paying job when there was no money, He footed all my schooling bills and provisions.  He allowed me to make use of the certificate of being a Brand Designer. I now have my own branding business. I became a PR of the electoral body of my department last year. I also got a hopeful connection to broaden my scope in that field. I'm more open, I've made more friends.  God is good. I'm ...
